In My Fluffy Pajamas Honored With Display at San Francisco City Hall
A celebration of the visual narratives of immigrant voices and the power of community art
We are honored to have the opportunity to showcase the voices of immigrants, women of color, and other marginalized individuals in this month-long display in the office of Supervisor Matt Dorsey at San Francisco City Hall.
We appreciate Supervisor Dorsey and his team for recognizing how empowering it is to display this work in a political public space, validating the participants’ experiences, amplifying the stories of immigrants and highlighting the value of community-created art. This visibility is crucial for immigrants and historically marginalized groups, as it demonstrates that their voices matter and are influential.
This exhibit is part of the project’s iteration: “In My Fluffy Pajamas: From Silk Road to San Francisco” which centered the voices from the AAPI community and immigrants from the Middle East. This portion of the project was made possible thanks to grants from Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center and San Francisco Arts Commission. Workshops were held at Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco and ARTogether.
There are eight pieces of art from the project on display in the offices of Supervisor Dorsey; they’ll remain up for view through September 22nd.
